Talks and Readings

I am always happy to give talks and readings for schools and organizations, for example:

May 2020 - Storybook |Marathon at Home in Ecuador

February 2018 - Arch Public School, Ottawa - three wonderful groups of Grade I and Kindergarten students.

April 10, 2014 - Toronto Grandmothers Embrace

March 7, 2013 - Grans'n'More, Winnipeg

March 6, 2013 - McNally Robinson, Grant Park, Winnipeg at 7:30 p.m.

In May 2010, while I was in Johannesburg, I was thrilled to join a group of South African gogos to spend time reading and interacting with Grade 2 learners at a school in Benoni.

On Sunday, December 6, 2009, a successful reading was held in St. Bedes Hall in the centre of Claughton Village, Birkenhead. 1940's music accompanied a delicious afternoon tea.

On October 30, 2009, Molly's Story was launched at Nicholas Hoare's Bookshop in Ottawa.

In June 2008, I drove north to Maniwaki, Quebec, to meet with the Book Club from the Kitigan-Zibi Algonquin High School to talk about my book, Flight across the Mekong, which was on their book list. We met in the beautiful Cultural Centre and had an animated discussion as well as sampling Thai food.

In March 2007 I participated in the Mutchmor Public School WOW (Write-On Week) Workshops, which was a lively morning in Ottawa's Glebe district.

In March 2006, I was travelling in Southern Africa and while in Pretoria I spoke to groups of twelve and thirteen year old learners (students) in three English primary schools and also an Afrikaans school in Krugersdorp. While I was a bit nervous before I left Canada about engaging groups of forty students, it turned out that the forty became one hundred and twenty and it was a breeze. This was because the learners were so attentive, interested and asked such good questions. I was most impressed.
